Well, today the new reach in cooler is to arrive. I found a different company to deliver it than the original guy recommended by the store, Restaurant Depot [RD]. I found someone willing to give me a receipt for the cash I give for the delivery. Shekinah Landscape out of Mesa, Az. They don’t appear to have a website, but you can google them to hire them if you like.
So I was up at 6:30 A.M.! Swept the driveway, got everything pushed out of the way or moved.
At RD the gal that sold it to me emphasized the fridge has to be standing up when moved, it CAN NOT be on its side. It can be tipped to get it into position, but not lying down.
About 10 a.m. I called George and he was on his way. I said I’d meet him on
a street to lead him in. Imagine my surprise when I saw it on its side. Needless to say I’m freaking out a bit.
He gets it to my place. I start taking pix for the blog Donna Maria http://www.indiebusinessblog.com/ said to do. [and here we are]
He tells me when I ask about its lying on its side, that the people that put it on with a forklift SAID it was ok, and although it clearly says ‘don’t stack’, it was stacked. He asked them about the glass doors that are supposed to be on it, they told him there were on it, wrapped up.
Ah, but as he unwraps it he and his workers see it is not what it’s supposed to be. Yes, indeed. Not only did they stack this that clearly says not too, but they put the wrong one on his trailer.
And while it may surprise some, I didn’t even say damn. So I called RD and spoke to Corby, the gal that handles this side of things and told her all that had happened, laying on its side, etc., clearly, she was upset off. [good thing too]
She wanted George to rewrap it with the bubble wrap. ??? I gave him tape and they did the best they could. Corby said she would give me a couple rolls of tape. But you KNOW it’s not going to be 3 inch wide, silent packing tape.
RD is going to pay George for having to take it back and bring back the correct one.
So once again, in a little bit, I’ll be excited about receiving my new reach-in, but some of the glow of excitement is gone, ya know?
